Local News for Jackson County
Spring has sprung, and ASU-Newport would like to invite all students, staff, faculty and members of the community to join us April 16 for our 2014 Spring Fling and Coffee House!
Presented by Phi Theta Kappa, the Student Veterans Organization and the ASUN Division of Student Affairs, Spring Fling has become an iconic student-run event for Arkansas State University-Newport, providing games, free food and entertainment to both the ASUN and greater Newport communities.
With the addition of our popular Coffee House talent showcase, this year promises to be more fun than ever!
It is our hope that the entire ASUN Family - students, faculty, staff, and community - will join us for this fun-filled day. There are a number of  events and activities planned, including live music, games, and a student involvement fair.
Students will also have an opportunity to sign a banner, confirming their commitment to complete their college education. We also ask that faculty and staff will sign on, in solidarity of their commitment to help students achieve their academic goals of college completion. The day's events will culminate with a special Flag Retirement Ceremony at 1:00 p.m., conducted by our Student Veterans Organization.
Spring Fling has proven to be the "last blast" of the semester for our students, and it becomes that much more special when we have participation from all members of the academic community. If you have questions about this year's event or want to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact Jacqueline Faulkner, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
